10.3.5.Contraints

How to: Create Constraints and Link to Hazards – Losses

  1. Double click the Constraints node in the STPA Project Overview to open in a new tab on the right.
  2. Click the New item add icon to create a New Constraint.
  3. Enter text in the field to name the new constraint.
  4. Enter text in the Categories field to create a new category for the constraints. Once a category is created it may be reused from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter the description for the new constraint.
  6. Check the boxes for the Hazards icon for hazards and/or UCAs Unsafe control action icon to link to the constraints. UCAs need to be created in the UCA (Step 1) and can be linked to constraints there too.

An error message in red will appear if there are any fields that have invalid and/or missing values.
