10.3.4.Relationship

How to: Create Hazard to Loss Graphical Relationship

  1. Double click the Relationship node in the STPA Project Tree and notice the new tab opening in the work space to the right.
  2. Toolbox for the Relationship canvas.

  4. To create a new hazard or loss you can drag and drop elements from the Toolbox or right click on the canvas to open the context menu items. Drag your mouse pointer over Select then left click on Hazard and a new hazard will appear on the canvas. By default, the hazard is labelled “New Hazard”.

  5. Select the newly created hazard and a dark border will appear around the item.
  6. Enter text in the field for the name, ID, and description.
  7. Use the check box to link the new hazard to other hazards losses, or constraints.
  8. The small blue arrows provide a quick add for a new loss or hazard that is automatically linked to the New Hazard.
